Good cheap safe hotel with parking near subway line in New York?

I am going to visit New York by driving this Christmas holiday, and looking for a cheap but safe hotel where I can leave my car on the day in the hotel and take subway to Manhattan. Never been there, so no idea where is safe area or where is near subway line. Any help is appreciated.Good cheap safe hotel with parking near subway line in New York?
There are a ton of hotels like La Quinta, Holiday Inn, and others around Sunnyside and Woodside in Queens. Most of them are right across the street from the 7 train. That's like 10-20 mins to the city. There are also 2 buses that stop near the hotels and go to the city.

You can take the bus (prices differ depending on which bound you are heading) near the hotel or take the ferry for around US$5.00
I recommend this hotel, best bang for the buck. It's in Sunnyside, Queens. One of the safest neighborhoods, lots of pubs, good food on Queens Blvd and Greenpoint Ave. Many big banks. And the 7 train is right there, 15 min ride into the city.
