How old do you have to be to check in or make reservations for a hotel?

I used to work in hotels, for the most part most of the hotels have an age restriction of 21 however there are ways around this. Some internet sites just ask for a credit card, so if you have one you can use it. However they could check your I.D. upon check in and refuse the room to you. Read the fine print if you use a website and see what the restrictions are. If you call and make the reservation again they will ask you for a CC, to hold the room, they might check your I.D. upon check in to verify the CC. Most of the time I would let people over the age of 18 book a room if there was a CC. Why because if there are any damages to the room you can charge the CC. It is best to check with the hotel/motel and find out what the policy is. Another good idea is to have a parent make the reservations for you, have them speak with the reservations manager or the hotel manager, I did this several times for parents. If your parents explain that you are traveling, going to a concert whatever most of the time the hotels will let you check in, and they will use the parents CC as a “deposit” on the room. They will then let you check in with no issues and again you can pay cash to check out.

Here are some hints about check in, first of all don’t bring a big group of you in, say you need a room. Be honest if they ask how many people and you have four well…..um tell the white lie and say 2, I know I said be honest but the rates can go up per a person. Act your age if not older, don’t be nervous, don’t be loud, don’t make a scene ect….they might not even ask your age if you are nice and know what you are doing. Also bring a CC it just makes things a whole lot easier you can use the CC for check in and pay cash upon check out. Most front desk people if you present a CC will not deny you a room!

Since I have been telling about the CC here is how it works, they do put a “hold” on the card for the amount of a night or two (some hotels will even do the whole stay) they have not charged the CC but they have asked the company to hold these funds to guarantee your stay. When you check out they remove the hole. Meaning DO NOT USE A DEBIT CARD!!!!!!!!! Why because if you do not have enough funds in there to cover your stay and your expense you will be on vacation with no money. Use a “real” CC for the reservations and check in! Make sure you have your room before you go, I would hate for you to get to your destination and not have a room. Of course there really is no age restrictions on campsite if that is a possible. Good luck I hope this helps! How old do you have to be to check in or make reservations for a hotel?

18
If you have to ask this question, you aren't old enough yet.

There are two issues here.

1. The law says that a contract (renting a hotel room is a contract) with an ';infant'; (a person under the legal age of 18 or 21 or whatever it is where you are) is not enforceable unless the contract is for necessities. Renting a hotel room is not a necessity, so if you refused to pay the hotel's options would be limited.

2. There could be legal issues here--liability to a lawsuit by the parents of (for example) an underage girl in a hotel room with her boyfriend), as well as a criminal charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Hotels (reputable ones anyway) do not need that publicity, and no hotel of any kind needs a lawsuit.
I was booking hotels at 18 in Arizona, Wisonsin and Minnesota
18, depends where your booking ... in europe almost everything that has an age limit will be 18, like smoking drinking and driving
over 18
If you're in the States it varies. In Columbus Ohio you need to be 21. But that was back in 97'
The age may not be checked if you are dressed well and have identification. You will know for sure when you try to make the reservation. It would also depend on the location, the person and the time of day.
all u need is money
depends on the hotel, usually 18.

they may have restrictions and make you be 21 though
