I am planning a trip to the Grand Canyon, does anyone have any suggestions on a hotel to stay?

We are on a budget as well as driving there. There will be 4 adults going.I am planning a trip to the Grand Canyon, does anyone have any suggestions on a hotel to stay?
forget about anything on the s. rim or even in Tusayan-which is the town that the south entrance station is next to. Flagstaff is a possibility with lots of things to do. It is not a short drive as another writer claimed. it is a 160 mile -on two lame roads round trip. gorgeous drive . Another interesting possibility

is The Navajo Reservation: there is a nice hotel/restaurant on us 89+ sr 64 in Cameron AZ - 30 minutes all up hill to the rim at Desert View - a great spot to see the canyon from for the first time.Another possibility is Gray Mountain really just a gas station a restaurant and a motel 12 miles south of Cameron. having said that it is also a fast short trip into flagstaff'.

Warning if you have not driven the high-speed two lane roads of the west be really cautious and really care full especially in passing situations. While only a small percentage of actual accidents occur in rural areas a dis -proportionally high percentage of fatal accidents happen there. It's entirely possible to be 100 miles away from the nearest hospital which leads to the possibility of a 200 mile round trip for an ambulance. add the possibility of places where cell don't work and the possibility of lousy flying weather- mostly wind and you have reason to be cautious.I am planning a trip to the Grand Canyon, does anyone have any suggestions on a hotel to stay?
I don't have a particular hotel in mind, my suggestion find a place in Flagstaff, Arizona and stay there. It is a short commute to the Grand Canyon with lots of family friendly things to do. A number of places to stay and competition for your business. I always shop the web for the best bargains.
I think that reserving in the north rim is great ive been 2 times not stayed but the place looks beautiful
You are three to six months behind in making hotel, and even camping, reservations.

You could stay in Flagstaff and drive out.
If your on a budget and there are only four then you should just camp there. There are plenty of places to camp and it's a more fun experience. Even if you don't have a tent you can sleep under the stars.
